Daylight Saving will start on October 6, 2024, Sunday at 2 am for New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, the ACT, and South Australia. The clock will jump forward to 3 am for the affected states. Queensland, Western Australia, and the Northern Territory do not participate in Daylight Saving.

Daylight saving will end on April 6, 2025, Sunday. The clock will move backward an hour to 2 am.

According to an ASIAL article (Daylight Saving 2024/25), an employer is under no obligation to make any additional payments following the daylight saving changes especially if there are no specific provisions in the contract or policies being implemented by the company. A good example is the Security Services Industry Award of 2020 which had no specifications regarding the daylight saving circumstance.

However, some employers do not want to put their employees at a disadvantage and still want to pay their employees or charge their customers the correct hours based on daylight saving time. In this regard, Guardhouse has a feature that would allow for the addition or subtraction of an hour to a shift when daylight saving starts or ends.
