The most common issue that we encounter with the guards is that they can not clock in with their shift even they are on the site. Staff are getting the error ' You need to be on site' to be clocked in for this shift. There are two factors affecting their clock in:
- High Error Accuracy/GPS high accuracy error
- Weak Internet/ Mobile Internet Connection
What are the common causes for the GPS Accuracy Error:
- Satellite signal blockage due to buildings, bridges, trees, etc.
- Indoor or underground use
- Signals reflected off buildings or walls ("multipath")
To solve these issues, the guard may follow the Trouble Shooting guide listed below.
Improve your GPS Accuracy
Sometimes Google Maps might have trouble finding where you are located. If the GPS location of your blue dot on the map is inaccurate or the blue dot is not showing up, here are some things you can do to help fix the problem.
Tip: This will also improve your search results and make them more relevant to you.
- On your Android phone or tablet, open the Google Maps app Google Maps.
.
- You’ll see a blue dot, which shows where you are. If you don’t see a blue dot, go to the bottom and tap Your location My location.
.
How Maps finds your current location
Maps estimates where you are from sources like:
- GPS: This uses satellites and knows your location up to around 20 meters. Note: When you're inside buildings or underground, the GPS is sometimes inaccurate.
- Wi-Fi: The location of nearby Wi-Fi networks helps Maps know where you are.
- Cell tower: Your connection to a cellular network can be accurate up to a few thousand meters.
